Mechanism of Action

Thymosin Alpha-1 (Thymalfasin, Zadaxin) is a 28-amino acid thymic peptide. It activates TLR2/TLR9 on dendritic cells, promotes T-cell priming, enhances CD4+/CD8+ maturation, increases NK cell cytotoxicity, and modulates Th1/Th2 balance. Approved in 35+ countries for hepatitis B and immune deficiency.

Key Research Findings

  • Pivotal Phase III improved HBV seroconversion in chronic hepatitis B patients
  • Review of 30+ trials (11,000+ subjects) found no severe adverse reactions
  • Demonstrated survival benefit in severe sepsis when combined with standard of care
