Mechanism of Action
Epithalon (Epitalon, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide analogue of epithalamin from the pineal gland. It activates telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) expression enabling telomere elongation, restores evening melatonin production, and modulates oxidative stress defense enzymes.
Key Research Findings
- Activated telomerase and induced telomere elongation in human somatic cells
- Extended maximum lifespan by 12.3% in mice while reducing spontaneous tumor incidence 6-fold
- Stimulated neurogenic differentiation markers 1.6-1.8 fold in stem cells
