Mechanism of Action
Ipamorelin is a highly selective pentapeptide ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) agonist. Unlike other GH secretagogues, it stimulates GH release without affecting cortisol, prolactin, or ACTH at any tested dose. It produces dose-dependent pulsatile GH release mimicking natural physiological patterns.
Key Research Findings
- Produced 5-20 fold GH elevation above baseline without altering cortisol or prolactin
- Stimulated longitudinal bone growth in hypophysectomized rats comparable to exogenous GH
- Cleanest side-effect profile among all GH secretagogues with absolute selectivity for GH
