Mechanism of Action
SLU-PP-332 is a first-in-class synthetic pan-agonist of estrogen-related receptors (ERRalpha/beta/gamma) that mimics exercise pharmacologically. ERR activation upregulates mitochondrial biogenesis, enhances fatty acid beta-oxidation, and increases oxidative muscle fiber composition.
Key Research Findings
- Increased running endurance in sedentary mice by inducing oxidative muscle fiber type switching
- Reduced obesity and improved glucose tolerance in diet-induced obese mice
- Ameliorated heart failure by enhancing cardiac fatty acid metabolism
